Waxed Cotton Riding Coat

The jacket is nice, though admittedly rather more lightweight than I expected. What baffles me most however is that it arrived with a black cord with black plastic toggles on the hood. Every marketing shot has a brown cord with metal hardware. The downgrade looks so cheap, I thought it was a mistake until I looked at the main product picture! !'ve had to buy my own better quality and colour hood cord and toggles, not what you'd expect at this price point at all.

Great shape shower proof (not waterproof) easy to wear jacket. Unfortunately my jacket did not have the pocket fastners shown, so the pocket flaps are very untidy in normal wear. When contacted, company did nothimng about this issue

The design of this jacket is stellar, but despite how stylish i feel, the jacket does not wear well. In its third season, the pocket lining is worn through, the fabric has worn thin, and the outside seams are loose and frayed. So disappointed.

I have shopped with Celtic for years and wear size 8 or XS. When I tried on the wax riding coat I was wearing a Celtic cotton, funnel neck, relaxed fit jumper, size XS. I just about managed to get my arms into the sleeves, and the coat just about went around me. And Celtic suggests styling it with a chunky jumper? It's the first time I've tried Celtic outerwear. I doubt I will again. Going by this experience, it's too much of a lottery. The coat has been returned.

I have been eyeing up this jacket for a while now but never got around to buying it (why not I ask myself!) so when hubby asked me what I wanted for Christmas this year this jacket was the perfect gift and I absolutely love it (although not allowed to wear it until Xmas day). It is so fabulous, very stylish, comfortable to wear and the usual great quality from C&C. I normally wear a 12 but ordered the 14 so I can wear thicker jumpers underneath on colder days & the straps can be adjusted to pull in at the waist. I am so lucky I have now got this jacket and can’t wait to wear it.

Beautiful quality jacket, it looks stylish and waist can be adjusted if you do not wear a thick jumper underneath. Was warm and dry in the rain. Best style wax jacket, and I have looked at loads. I am 5’7” and it comes just above the knee. Love it!

I lost count how many years I have wished and longed for this coat. The coat is everything I had hoped it would be and more. I am a size 18 5ft 2in length is on the knee and it gives plenty of room if wearing a thick jumper. Service excellent quick and beautifully packaged.

I love this coat. I bought mine last October and wore it pretty much through our Toronto winter. I am wondering tho, I have a bar of lightweight wax from Barbour,, can I use this bar on my Celtic Riding Coat?

I was concerned whether to order a size 10 or 12. I bought the 12 and pleased that it fits with a jumper underneath. The sleeves are generous but not too long. I am 5ft 1” and the length is just above my knees. You can adjust the waist. I wore it today in heavy rain and I was really comfortable and dry. It also kept me warm enough, it’s supposed to be summer but feels like November here.

I feel like there is something wrong with me and not the coat seeing as I am not as happy with it as other buyers. I’ve wanted this coat for 4 years and finally decided to get it. The first coat I got was a size 14 and it was huge on me and had a very strong smell from the wax. I was a little hesitant to reorder a smaller size due to the smell and that it left a greasy, shiny residue on my hands. Not having ever had a waxed cotton garment before, I wasn’t sure what to expect. But I love the shape and style because most other fall jackets are boxy or puffer coats and I wanted something more elegant and this coat is exactly what I was looking for. I reordered the 12 and received it and it fit much better; still big enough to wear a jumper underneath. I wore it for 30 minutes and it made the ends of my long, fine hair all oily looking like I hadn’t showered in a few days. It also left a grease stain on the chair I had laid it on when I unpacked it and left for a day.I don’t know if this is just me or if people normally tie their hair up but sadly i am returning this coat for a second time. If this was ever made in a similar unwaxed cotton canvas I would buy it in a heartbeat. The lines are beautiful, the colour a deep beautiful brown and the quality is excellent but unfortunately the wax coating is not something I would buy again.

Can’t say enough about this coat! It fits beautifully, is fully lined and quite rain resistant. I live in Toronto, Canada and I wore this coat through most of the winter with a sweater and was very comfortable. It’s stylish, I’ve had many compliments on it. The hood is a perfect fit which I always have trouble with in other coats. The only thing is when I tighten the drawstring it tends to swing up and hit my nose when walking….a little annoying but it’s minor. Beautiful coat, well made, comfy, warm and rain resistant. Who could ask for more!

Am thrilled with this coat! It oozes quality from top to bottom! The quality of the material, the beautiful lining, the hood, deep pockets plus inside zip pocket, super heavy duty front fastening zip. Shapely cut! It's just such an unusual coat, I love the adjustable waist detail too. I also went up a size up so could wear a jumper. I'm usually a 14 went for 16 and there is lots of room. I probably could of got away with a size 14, but wanted the coat to be roomy and it is. I will adjust the waist when I don't wear a jumper. The item was delivered super quick and thoughtfully packaged with love. Thank you!

I am a size 10 but to get full use of the coat, when I need a jumper I opted for the 12 after trying both sizes. I then use the straps at the side to pull in at the waist if I want. The sleeves are a little long but ok. It’s a lovely style - a bit different from the norm. Seems well made. I have worn it a few times and enjoyed the experience!

I got this coat for a Christmas present this year. I absolutely love it and get compliments on it every time I wear it. Love that the fit can be adjusted on the sides.

I contacted Celtic and co regarding delivery of this coat as it was on a 2 week pre-order as I still had not received the item after 4 weeks. However I didn’t get a reply after various requests for a reply. Eventually after receiving the item, there is a hold in the pocket lining. I have contacted Celtic and Co about this but after 3 days I still have not had a reply

A lovely coat but comes up a bit large so sadly had to return and smaller size wasn't available. I do think it's quite expensive but no doubt would last well.

I had wanted one of these jackets for so long and my husband brought me one for my birthday! I was so pleased with the jacket as it looks so lovely on and a really do like it , but I also thought it was supposed to be waterproof and as I cycle to work thought it would be fabulous for the wet weather. Unfortunately I have only had it for a month and have just wore it on a school run in the rain and it has run through to my jumper so I’m not very happy considering the cost of the jacket it’s very disappointing!

I am a broad shouldered 12-14 so ordered the 14 to be on the safe side. It fits me so well and is perfect on the shoulders. The added benefits are the adjustable side straps. I can pull these in to slightly cinch in the waist which gives it a lovely hour glass shape. The dipped hem at the back is such a gorgeous and unusual feature which sets it apart from other shapeless wax jackets. I like the inside pocket which is big enough for my phone. It is slightly lighter than my ‘B’ wax jacket but I like this for a coat as it isn’t heavy to wear for long periods of time. The wax coating isn’t too thick either and I can wear it in the car without worrying about transferring any waxy residue.

Buy at your peril. After buying as a coat to walk the dog based on it being water resistant and waxed cotton rather than man-made fibre I have had 6 months wear out of it and it has frayed in to holes on the under arm seams. Apparently this is due to wear (obviously) rather than a poor quality product (I dispute) and Celtic and Co will not offer a refund or replacement. This is the second thing from them of poor quality at a high price point and most certainly not worth the money and will definitely not "last a lifetime" as the website claims! Don't waste your money.

I have wanted to buy a wax jacket for awhile and have been saving to buy this one, as i have bought slippers and boots from Celtic & Co and have been pleased with the quality. Firstly the fit is excellent and I can wear a thick sweater underneath during the winter, without feeling restricted. The little details and the top quality of the fabric are excellent. I also liked the fact that wearing the hood you can tighten it using the toggles and it is big enough to cover your fringe, without billowing out. And the pockets are a brilliant size with flaps to keep things tucked inside. Two things that I would love to see is another colour…perhaps khaki and I would also like to see a range of men’s wax jackets. I would definitely buy one for my son.

Trage normal 36/38 und habe eine 40 gewählt, um noch einen Dicken Pullover/ eine Weste darunter zu tragen. Genau richtig, und durch die Einstellmöglichkeiten an der Taille trotzdem schöner Schnitt. Ich verwende sie tatsächlich als Mantel zum ausreiten . Vielen Dank!

This coat looks amazing, wish I could afford, but I have adequate coats. It would be very beautiful in other colours, like a dark purply plum, a cranberry, and avocado green…

This waxed riding coat is fabulous. I’m a small size 8 and the size 8 fits perfectly even with a jumper underneath. I wear it when I go out cycling and it is completely wind and waterproof. I love the fact it’s long enough to keep my bum warm!! I also love all the little extra features, peppered pockets and adjustable side straps. It’s my favourite coat.
